Founded in 2014, the MC-1 Foundation began as the MC-1 Honor Run — a fundraising motorcycle ride created to support the family of Sergeant Dave Baldwin of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (E.O.W. 1-26-2014). Sergeant Baldwin, whose radio call sign was “MC-1,” was tragically killed in the line of duty after being struck by a wrong-way driver while riding his motorcycle.
Since its founding, the MC-1 Foundation has remained committed to honoring the sacrifice and service of Colorado’s public safety professionals. Each year, the Foundation selects a public service employee who has been injured in the line of duty as the Honor Run beneficiary and provides support to them and their family throughout the year.
Today, the MC-1 Foundation is proud to operate as a 100% volunteer organization and is recognized as a tax-exempt nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (#47-5206410).
